artist: Tinfoil Teakettle title: "13" format: 7" single cat#: suction013 tracklist: 1/A1 Think Like Us 2/B1 13 3/B2 13b INFO: Hello. SUCTION RECORDS presents "13", a three-track 7" single, marking the debut release by TINFOIL TEAKETTLE. This is suction013. TINFOIL TEAKETTLE is a collaboration between Gregory De Rocher and Jason Amm, aka SUCTION RECORDS' full-time robot music composers, LOWFISH and SOLVENT. This release is plagued by a curse, influenced by nightmares, and sounds like a modern take on the raw, morbid Electronic Body Music sound of early Skinny Puppy or Dive. The distorted vocal stylings of the EBM-masters have been reinterpreted with an icy vocoder snarl, signalling strange new directions for both EBM and modern electro. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

artist: Black Turtleneck title: "Auntie Depressant" format: 12" EP cat#: suction016 tracklist: 1/A1 Disco Discord (12" extended) 2/A2 Store Front 3/B1 Grudge Holder 4/B2 Discontinued Parts 5/B3 Auntie Depressant INFO: Hello. SUCTION RECORDS presents "Auntie Depressant," a five-track 12" ep, marking the debut of BLACK TURTLENECK. This is suction016. BLACK TURTLENECK is a new Toronto-based vocal electro-pop duo featuring Jason Amm (aka SUCTION RECORDS' full-time robot music composer, SOLVENT) and Thomas Sinclair. BLACK TURTLENECK takes SUCTION RECORDS' patented melodic electro sound one step closer to the classic synthpop stylings of Soft Cell, Human League and Depeche Mode. Five modern, complex synthesizer pop songs for the introspective black turtleneck set, working the day job in silent contempt, with dreams of leaving.... Songs about clublife for people who don't like clubs, and window shopping melodies for those feeling spent. "Auntie Depressant" is the perfect prescription to alleviate your grudges and misgivings, delivered with an accent for authenticity. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Lowfish's "Dark Matter" featured on Tiga's recent 2-cd "Turbo Studio Sessions Vol.3" mix, out on Turbo Records (http://www.turborecords.ca/mar_cd_022.html). ___________________________________________________________________ SECTION-003: SUCTION RECORDS press -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- -->GD LUXXE "Vendetta" (CD / 12" EP, suction015) DJ magazine (U.K.): "Gerhard Potuznik has been making music since the 80s, so he's in a better position than most producers to release a synth pop EP. Taking inspiration from Soft Cell, as well as New Order - check the growling bassline on 'Words' - the real irony is that two of the tracks, 'Reasons' and 'Garden', were originally recorded by the Austrian producer during the decade of greed. As such, their deadpan vocals, tinny synths and bleepy electro sounds manage to achieve the rare feat of sounding retro and contemporary at the same time." RATING: 4 out of 5. The Wire magazine (U.K.): "Coming with a vendetta from Vienna, Gerhard Potuznik revives two tracks written in 1986, polishing them up for the millennium and fleshing out the record with two new compositions and a remix co-authored by Canada's Solvent. In keeping the the unspoken theme for this month's column - Vendetta is resolutely nu wave: the opening track "REASONS" is an arpeggio-driven pop track grazed by cool analogue synthesizers, punctuated by skittering drum machines overlaid with dry vocals in the style of Marc Almond. And if this is Potuznik singing, he's got the accent down pat. The rest of the record follows in like fashion , marked by the modulated growls of classic Depeche Mode. Nostalgia buffs will love it, but the rest of us are advised to take it in moderation. Like the Austria beverage sturm, drawn off pre-fermented wine and available for mere weeks at a time, its pleasure is inscribed in its limits." ___________________________________________________________________ SECTION-004: SOLVENT VS LOWFISH / LOWFISH live events -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- To book Solvent & Lowfish (or Solvent or Lowfish) contact: info@suctionrecords.com
