When you say first album here, I assume you're talking about Von? Von was far from a masterpiece. It had a couple of great songs on it but overall it was a bit too random for my liking. If however you are talking about AB as the first album, then maybe you aren't the huge Sigur Ros fan you think you are. Anyway () is my favourite album of the year, but like all great things it's impossible to pinpoint why exactly. It's alot more focused than AB was, with a nice split between they "happy" half and the "heavy" half. The songs themselves more then stand up to those on AB, and I really don't see how people can say opposite. Track 8 is one of the best things I've heard. I love the way it changes from having a nice, dreamy guitar line to just being a monster of a track. Track 2 is another great one, great melody and it sounds like it should have a huge epic ending but in the end it just fades away beautifully into Track 3, which is another one I like greatly despite it's simplicity. I could go on, but I don't think I'm going to change anyone's opinion here. But I think the AB vs. () debate is alot like the Music Has The The Right to Children vs. Geogaddi debate, Geogaddi has the better songs, but nothing can compare to the magic of hearing songs like Rogybiv, Olson or Aquarius for the first time.
