What did anybody else think of this show? I saw them in LA with a friend
last Thursday and we were really stunned...AGF has got to be the future
pin-up queen of the laptop set, that's all I can say, with killer DSP
chops, a beautiful voice, a sure hand on the mixer, and a wardrobe
straight out of Antonioni's 'Blow Up'..oh and the music was great too!
A really well-paced show too: a microsound/abstract set from AGF playing
two laptops and a mixer, then an ambient set from Vlad more in the vein
of some of his ambient CDs, then some slow groove tracks together with
AGF, who sang and triggered effects on her voice, and then finally some
of the more danceable Luomo tracks later.
What a night...the music is still echoing in my mind on Sunday
afternoon...
Those Luomo dance grooves are amazing, somehow he makes it sound like
the rhythms are loosely held together with rubber bands or something
rather than rigidly sequenced...sounds like he's got a whole troupe of
percussionists inside his computer.
