Overall, I think its pretty cool stuff. Several of the tracks are Kid
606 fucking with Top 40 hip hop tracks from the likes of D12, Missy
Elliot, and Jay-Z. There is one track that sounds like some kind of
remix of some song with Kathleen Hanna in it (Bikini Kill or Le
Tigre?). Lots of glitchy fast beats. Typical Kid 606 smart ass
humor. I like it. And then there is one track that has some old 80's
nostalgia kicks... samples of the Bengals' Walk Like an Egyptian and
that ubiquitous "OH YEEEEAAH" song that was in twix commercials so long
ago. Its cool.
It also occurred to me. We were talking about Dada and all that shit
not so long ago. Anyway, seems to me that whether or not you think
artists like Kid 606 are employing dada-ist principles, the trend of
verbose, smart-ass titles definitely owe to Dada, more particularly
Marcel Duchamp. Food for thought or something.
