I have been approached by a company who supply both the local (South
African) and international market, to put together a compilation CD
to be sold in their shop and via mail-order.
Can anybody please give me some pointers regarding the legalities of
licensing, clearing tracks & samples and royalty issues involved in
getting into a venture such as this?
I think they see it like something akin to the recent Jasper Conran
V/A compilation - in a downtempo 'chill' vein, to go with the
'lifestyle' offered by their line.
Any kind of information and help, especially outlining the possible
pitfalls, would be hugely appreciated, so that I come armed with
knowledge before setting up further meetings.
