McCartney did do two "electronic" albums under the pseudonym the Fireman. There's info about it on AllMusic.com, if you want to know more. Harrison's '60s-guitar peer Eric Clapton, for what it's worth, also did a pseudonym/electronic thing, recording as X-Sample.
