quoted 1 line 1) There is no "new IDM vs. old IDM". There are>>1) There is no "new IDM vs. old IDM". There are
numerous artists doing a broad range of styles.
True, but it aint all good tho!(or even close)
quoted 1 line 1b) There *are* more artists and a broader range of>>1b) There *are* more artists and a broader range of
styles now than there have been in the past. This is
a good thing.
Can agree to 1/2 of 1b, but if you dont like all the styles coming out its
not necessarily "good".
quoted 1 line 2) If you don't like what you're listening to, turn it>>2) If you don't like what you're listening to, turn it
off.
Agree.
3) If you prefer what you were listening to
previously, go back to it. Enjoy it. You went
through the effort of obtaining it, didn't you?
Agree, I was just a "terrorist" last night, killing my
neighbors with Time Tourist!
quoted 1 line 4) If you absolutely must have new music, try out new>>4) If you absolutely must have new music, try out new
stuff. Don't expect to like everything.
Agreed, you gotta take the good with the bad, but the list
is used to maximize/minimize on this.....
quoted 1 line 4a) If you try out artists X, Y, and Z, and none of>>4a) If you try out artists X, Y, and Z, and none of
them appeal to you, don't assume that you've tried out
every artist and therefore know everything, and
definitely don't start complaining that "all this new
IDM is so [_____]; what happened to the good stuff?"
I dunno, I think swooping generalizations can be made without
trying to indict "ALL" idm stuff.....
4b) Maybe ask the list for suggestions. Say what you
liked before, what you don't like now; you're bound to
get some good pointers. Again, keep in mind that you
won't like everything, nor will every suggestion be a
good one *for you*.
1st rate bullshit, with a philosophy such as just ignore
someone, it shows that you have to "suck-up" to the list
in a general way, otherwise, you'll be BLACK BALLED(like me)...
and then "the list" wont help you with shit!.....so find some
suitable buddies who know your taste, then you dont
have to be a pansy about which way you really feel!
quoted 1 line 5b) Don't you even dare to ask the list the question>>5b) Don't you even dare to ask the list the question
posed in #5 above, ask it of yourself.
How can you know anything without asking(and if you dont
know the proper place to start your search)?
quoted 1 line 6) If you're going to complain about the "sad state of>>6) If you're going to complain about the "sad state of
IDM today" or some such nonsense, don't conclude your
message with a statement like "i'll take vanetian
snares over tel aviv..." Obviously you know a current
artist that you do like, and all you wanted to do was
express distaste and negativity towards another
current artist that you don't like.
mmmmm, perhaps this may be true.
quoted 1 line 6b) In other words, if you're enjoying some music, and>>6b) In other words, if you're enjoying some music, and
other people are enjoying different music, and you
don't like the music that other people are enjoying,
it's very childish and pathetic to try to turn the
situation into a pissing match over whose favorite
artists are "better." (As if such a thing were even
possible...)
True, but dont think if one shouts about what he likes so much that he/she
is trying to "turn the situation". It could be that the chap is trying to
focus on the positive of his, without
having to mention any negative comments about any other(and that's is mostly
what I try to do)........
Hk!(who'll send my Detroit buddies a message and tell em they need to shock
the fucking world again with something Nu.....:)
