i've been personally more interested by a lot of the sounds surfacing from
the Schematic label lately, or possibly Phthalo or Planet ?. I.e.,
Phthalocyanine, Richard Devine, Otto von Schirach... I would say they're all
influenced by RDJ probably (although I can't speak for them) but they seem
to be taking it somewhere more interesting than the new afx.... although I
did really like those more abstract piano/ambient pieces that I heard. I'll
probably still pick it up just to hear it all, before making a total
judgment. (I would also mention Jamie Lidell's "Muddlin Gear" which blew me
away when I put it on for the first time....)
