Some of these may be old...but I'm just gettin em so lay off! 1. Plastic Sleeves- Messages from Machines- Downlow 003- Fucking OG synth lines, chattering electro riddims and that early 80s attitude that makes you want to sink into a burning subway car and just write Taki 183 over and over again... 2. The Locust- Flight of the Wounded Locust EP- San Diego screaming linear chaos band releases a new 7" EP, moving towards a more electronic sound, though still satisfying in that classic Locust style. Not as thrilling as their first two releases, but still a jarring outing. Second side is bizzarre wank, some sort of keyboard experiments...somebody get these guys some Herbie Hancock. 3. Solvent/Lowfish split- Suction001 the first record chronologically in the lowfish/solvent split series. Suction003 had a lot of trouble leaving my turntable, 001 is no exception, four out of the five tracks are utter hits...beautiful melodies, intricate percussion, snappy sounds. Another of my favorite electro labels in its prime. 4. Drexciya- Deep Sea Dweller- Shockwave 1007- Fucking solid booming techno release from the heads that I normally associate with electro, squelching synths etc...bangin all around. 5. Destroyer 666- Violence is the Prince of this World- Label Unknown- Truly powerful metal from Australia, successfully bringing the viscerality and beauty of black metal into the brutality of Death in some instances, a very strong album, never boring, always changing up, best guitar-based destruction I've heard in awhile. 6. Parasite/Electromeca- C'mon PunXXX !!! Counterattack !!! - Peace off Ltd. 002 - The first Peace off release that I've really been into, older breaks are thrown to the wayside on both artists, with electromeca taking a sort of warpbeat chargecore and Parasite veering more towards bass-heavy breakcore, very strong 12". 7. Dan Hekate- Live CD-R- Great roughish electro release from the free party pogofiend himself, though gawdamn I wish it was broken into more than one track....skipping ahead with the search button gets ritualistic...not as rough as earlier Newskin but still hectic and wonderful. 8. Noizecreator- Push it! remixes- Active Underground 03- Fuck...what to say, brilliant. Bassfucking hardcore with solid synths and that ever-present hanging violence of "push it!", shame it's only two tracks. 9. Cyanide- Uncivilized World 06- If you don't know what this is...you should. Some of the best hardcore ever put out, IMO. At turns melodic and rough... 10. Underground Resistance- Millenium to Millenium- UR51- More detroitness...odd kicks on one side, both are solid, ahhh beauty these synths... 11. Black Dice- Untitled?-Vermin Scum #22- Chaotic guitar hardcore, I love it...as great as their 10" and somewhat of a compliment to the Locust EP in its analog badness. One side is just run out grooves? Kinda whack, but still solid... 12. Addict 5- Doormouse- mama didn't raise no punk, i made myself one E.P- Charging hardcore, fave track is the one with the metal vocals, didn't like the second side so much, too amen heavy, but overall a good release, addict 4 and 5 both are quite good. 13. Daedelus- Her's is- Phthalo 31 (?)- Great new release on Phthalo label from a Los Angeles vet, Daedelus. Following a conversation with some loony through musique concrete sound echoes, melodic sunny days and sudden inescapably uplifting breakcore, this release will have you shitting soul 45s... Looking forward to Hecate, Kovert, Minion/Datakill, Autechre, Crisis Theory, Somatics on Hymen, new Cindy Talk, Anonymous.... -SKO "The society that abolishes all adventure makes the abolition of that society the only real adventure." - Paris 1968 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
