For some reason, I found the *original* "Tyger" to be quite listen-to-able. The 1991 (-ish) remixed version (which now, bizarrely, is the defintive version) was complete and utter shite though. Why is Edgar Froese determined to completely rewrite TD history? In 200 years time, the likes of Franke, Schmoelling and Bauman are going to be the stuff of myth. We'll have FAQs that'll look something like: Q) Whilst I don't disagree with the fact that Tangerine Dream formed in 1987 and that their debut release was "Optical Race", I'm pretty sure my great-great-great-great grandfather recalled there used to be a line-up that existed before then. I was in the attic the other day and found an old, decaying CD sleeve (the CD itself had long since deteriorated). The writing's a bit hard to make out, but I can definitely make out the words "rine Dream" and another word: "Headra?" underneath it. On the back I can make out the names: "oese, Franke and Baum" Is this a lost TD album? A) No, what you have there is a very clever fake. Back in the early 21st century, Edgar Froese warned TD fans about some very clever fakes that had been in circulation for much of the 1990s. Whilst these may look valuable, according to Froese they are actually quite worthless and are the work of fools, wanna-bes and charlatans, trying to cash in on the Tangerine Dream name. Tangerine Dream always has been and always will be a family business. According to Tomas Froese, who now carries on the Tangerine Dream legacy with his two sons, Dieter and Hans, there never were any other members in the group besides Edgar and his direct offspring. When questioned about the very obvious presence of Linda Spa in the 1990s TD line-up, Tomas usually goes quiet, stares at his feet and mumbles, "They never found the body! It was never proven!" before storming out of an interview. -- Mark Stevens http://www.headspin.clara.net/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
