no, I'm saying that the lawsuit was the end result of a lot of wrangling and pigheadedness on both parts. etoy.com is as stupid as etoys.com. Revolutionary, my ass. They're a bunch of dipshits, and the most revolutionary thing they've done is provided a neat trick for porn spammers. I'm not defending eToys, I'm saying making a blanket statement like "ETOYS IS EVIL" because of some past event that was ultimately resolved, and which you know very little about, is pretty stupid.

Actually, I left long before the layoffs. I'm not psychic, but it wasn't exactly difficult to see what was ahead. I'm not toeing the corporate line, either, when this topic was actually SOMEWHAT RELEVANT, I made my fair share of stink about it at work. However, when I saw my name up on RTMark as being one of the people who "quit" because of the whole deal, it became apparent that they were as full of shit as eToys was, and I lost interest in the matter. I was more pissed off about the fact that eToys was making it's web people work in customer service and the warehouses to meet holiday demand, anyway. Now THAT was evil. My point is, I guess, that the whole thing was more involved than pointed out on /. and rtMark at the time, and the lawsuit wasn't the initial reaction, it was a stupid recourse taken when everything else had failed. I'm pissed that eToys failed because it's a sign that internet e-Commerce is merely going consolidate the power of corporate giants like WalMart, instead of providing entirely new channels. eToys was a step in the right direction - overall, the corporate culture was relaxed, I could do what the fuck I wanted most of the time - as big as it was, there was a 'startup' atmosphere, and most of the people I worked with were cool, liberal and open-minded. I don't think there are going to be too many places like that around in 2 or 3 years. I'm not toeing the corporate line anymore than I'm willing to toe the rtMark line. I prefer to think for myself and make my own judgements, thanks. david
