Well, I was using "intelligent" apropos to the IDM tag, but seriously the newer stuff just sounds more advanced/complex and experimental than their earlier work. I just think their more recent work sounds less like kiddie music.

And I may ask you why the lack of typical melodies makes the music less "intelligent" ? Some of the most anally intellectual music ever composed is quite devoid of melody.

I disagree. I think Ae's post-Chiastic Slide work is more complex both timbrally and programming wise. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

Welcome to IDM.

What does that mean ? I hate to disappoint you, but the upcoming Peel Session tracks (which were recorded on 8/99) are in the vein of "EP7". Try to give their recent work another listen without expecting to hear what they used to do 5 years ago or whatever. You know, I bought LP5 when it came out and only listened to it a couple of times and didn't like it much, but recently I went back to it and now I think it's really good. A similar thing happened with EP7.
