on the Kid 606 front, i like his live sets that I've seen, and I dig the split with lsr and the first full length on VC. I was ecstatic about Down With The Scene for the first two weeks I owned it, listening to it non-stop, when suddenly I found it annoying. I'm starting to really get in to most of it again... still don't like the way "GQ on the EQ" drags out using the same beat for too long, nor do i dig the track with Mike Patton too much, but the rest is good, especially the last few tracks. The Kid-606 and Friend's vol 1 record blows my mind every time i listen to it, as I love noise and it's the most amazingly delicate and rocking noise-IDM i've heard, which is admittedly not too much. anyone with recommendations in that direction would be appreciated; also how do the remixes on their compare to the stuff that the artists do themselves? the best thing about kid-606 is that he's gotten me excited about IDM and glitch electronics and breaks again. Because of 606, I've been picking up records by Cex, Autechre, Oval, Boards Of Canada, Otomo Yoshihide, 12k comp, mego, etc... and I've started working on my own tracks in this general arena of experimental/edgy electronic music... so he may be grabbing spotlights from other deserved acts but his popularity is generally good for the scene. Without influxes of new people, the music will get stagnant... In any scene there are usually a couple artists that gets a lot of attention and others that don't, so that's why one has to do some research and investigation to find the bands that appeal most directly to your particular aesthetic tastes... anyhow i gotta get some work done, Anthony __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
