don't know how the instore's were, but last night's event at static was the
perfect compressed mid-week electro fix. godfather played his typically
blazin' booty set pitched up to at least +16. while the trademark
"paycheck" was absent, he did do a good job of utterly decimating ll cool j
in rapid fire cut an paste style.
BMG's PA was tight as ever. he rocked it old school, with square beats and
wicked eerie overtones. not as dubbilicious as the PA at "comin' from the
D" earlier this spring, but more straight forward quantized block rockin'
beats. 101 + 303 + 808 + 1200 + a couple of other vintage analog
generators makes for a very good time. it's amazing what godfather's
frantic epeleptic chicken scratching sounds like when bent, stretched and
folded back onto itself via BMG's echoplex.
the kiddies appeared to be loving in, and it was cool how a show like this
brings together elektrohounds from near and afar. 'twas good to see sean
cooper, josh-kit-clayton, greg lowfish, tetsu inoue and others. though i'm
tired as a mofo now, but i guess that's what cross country plane rides are
for.
