Did anyone notice outside the Jega interview in FAQT that there was a little
column asking certain him what or who he didn't really care for and why?
It turns out his answer to the question was the Warp label. He reasoned that
he felt Warp wouldn't risk anything on signing an artist until they had proven
themselves on another label.
He went on to back up what he said by stating that Warp didn't sign Aphex
until he had already released his select ambient works on R&S, as well as
other artist like Jimi Tenor who had non-Warp releases before being picked up
by Warp and also Squarepusher, who was on Spymania before being picked up by
Warp.
Apparently Warp's initial disinterest in Jenkinson was that they felt the
whole realm of drum and bass was just a phase in music.
I thought it was an interesting point of view from Dylan.
