Are U kidden me Cutup? Okay let me give it a shot:
Ladies and gentlemen, the song to which I refer, or I should say the song
which spawned this entire ordeal is Mr. Ruoho's Track that is untitled (the
last track on CDr #2)....this does have a D&B feel!
Generalization, yes---but let me give you a few others besides the Plaid
track, which again take on a D&B feel, IMO. JMJ & Flytronix, L.t.j. Bukem,
PFM, Form Form, Photek, Seba & Lo-tec, yes off the L.t.j. Bukem Cd, Logical
Progression. This is all the D&B that I have heard, and no I am not really
into D&B as a whole. However, the songs which I have heard tend to display
a lush feel. My apologies for the MOST comment, I can see that is what threw
you off Cutup and my apologies for posting your comment back to the list.
Now where were we!
Hk!

I'm wondering what do you mean by saying that the melodies in most d&b
recordings are lush?
I listen to alot of drum and bass...pretty much everything that comes
out,
and i'm not sure what you mean.
There's definitely a huge sub-genere of drum and bass, so-called
"intelligent",
which is all about layers of strings and melody. Then you have a whole
range of stuff that uses strings and melody (usually in the bassline) to
varying degrees, conveying a range of emotions...from the darker sci-fi
atmospheres to beautiful oceanic ones. Then you have stuff that's pretty
devoid of melody, just raw samples, beats and bass.
Just wondering where you're generalization is coming from...its not
totally
wrong by any means,
but i don't see it as such an absolute that it bears explanation.
