he's great, but, no I can't think of another piece by him that's quite like that one. But I would definately check out the "Rainbow in Curved Air" album. Very euphoric, surprisingly synthetic sounding for a tape loop-based piece using electronic organ and acoustic instruments, a perennial fave of mine. "Shri Camel" is very nice, a set of pieces in an orientalist/stoner vein, played on a specially tuned organ. His later stuff tends to be more about longer melodies, often bearing the influence of his study of Indian classical singing. If you get into string quartets, check out the Cadenzas on the Night Plain album. While there are a lot of repeating phrases, the pieces have less of a minimal groove feel and more of the feel of melodic/contrapuntal classical music. I like 'em. (the quartets on Salome's Last Dance seem less compelling to my ear). if what you're really after is stuff that sounds like "In C", Steve Reich's '70's ensemble stuff like "Music for 18 Musicians" might do it for ya. kurt --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
