As before, I would like to briefly present a report on new CDs I've got: L@N - S/T (A-Musik) Brilliant example of authentic approach to minimal techno. Two channells speak to each other their digital stories. Combined they produce a parallel plane of psychedelic minimalism. btw. I've found their second CD pressed on Staalplaat. http://www.staalplaat.com I'm almost sure they made it in such way that it contains all previously vinyl only tracks from their two LPs. 9/10 ____ Solvent - s/t (Suction) Finally, I got it! I've waited so long for it but it gone much further my expectations. Another exceptional example of authentic approach to idm. Every track's a pleasant surprise and differs from the other ones. Agressive and melodic at the same time. If you still do not have it, run for it or you'll miss a full page of idm history recently written. 10/10 (must have) _______________ Solvent - Solvently One Listens (Suction) At first listening I was a little bit confused being earlier presented to his first CD. New one sounded much solfter, melodic and simplistic to me. Soon I realized that it was just another part of Jason Amm. This one was as much melodic and closer to ambient as previous one was agressive and harsh. It is a beutiful combination of engaging short stories crafted in the best traditions of BoC, Bola, and PLaid, though still made in his own way. 8.5/10 ______ Lowfish - Fear Not the Snow and Other Low-Fiing Objects (Suction) One more suction robot producing excellent digital brain-dancing structures of refined authenticity. Harder and less melodic than Solvent, Lowfish shall definitely appeal to ae, rdj, david kristian or cylob like music fans. Again every track sounds different from the other ones and makes general summary merely useless and undescriptive as in Solvent's case. 9/10 ____ Phoenecia - Odd Jobs (Schematic) I've never heard original Phoenecia releases (only a remix track on Kristian's "Woodworking"), yet I'm already sure it can't be bad owing to the perfect remix work done by Ae, Soul Oddity, PBO, Richard Devine(best imho) and others. It's short (41 min), though the stream of musical information pouring from speakers is so intense that the overall sound data volume would not even fit on CD. Agressive idm as complex and mind-blowing as you would expect from the roster. Rarely a remix project is made that good. 9/10 ____ Boards of Canada - High Scores (Scam) The worst about this release is that it is short (about 30 mins.). Everything else is in BoC style of warm electronic embrace of childhood dreams. Nothing more to say, it's more than worth a listen to BoC admirers. 7.5/10 ______ Thx for attention. Wish you good music and good night. Alien almost falling asleep np.
