trolling through the bins at the record store today i came across a cd on source records released in 1995 by ro 70 (roman flugel). though over, presumably, a year old, it's a refreshingly off-kilter collection of ambient-leaning electronica similar to some of the more beatoriented fax releases (not surprisingly) such as i.f. and some of david reeves' material, as well as some of the recent electro-jazz experiments of elfish echo, bisk, and atom heart (though decidedly darker and more, well, _german_ than those...). the disc also has a pretty interesting rhythmic dimension to it (though not nearly as complex as the latter three above) and, in my opinion, a wonderfully "composed" feel; the tracks really have sense of dynamism and progression that even the more experimental of "dance-based" electronic music often lacks. so what's up with this flugel guy? anybody offer any insight? will he be involved on any level with km20? does he have any other material out? thanksc
