i think the praises have been sung, but i wanted to hum a few bars of my own about the jega ep on skam. i've been looking for it since i first heard of it about two months ago, and it finally just showed up in san francisco's new release bins. man, what a fucking _scorching_ ep (and ep? seven tracks!). the best thing to ever appear on that label, imo, and a bit more kickass than anything i've heard out of freeform or gescom. "norton midgate" is incredibly original d'n'b-esque electro on par with some bedouin ascent and that amazing bowling green track on _further self-evident truths 3_. and "ionic"? some of the finest, most engaging ambient electro since "boogie down bronx" or bochum welt's "phial" ep on axodya. like berlin's "metro" genetically recombined with man parrish and mated with b12. makes my spine tingle. my only criticism is the track ends too soon!...i'm also diggin the way it moves from style to style and feeling to feeling with each track (from funk to hardcore to gamelan--really!--to goofball loungecore)...check this out if you passed on it etc. ...alright, enough. just needed to get that out of my system. sc p.s. can anyone fill me in on jega? who he/she/they is/are and whether they have other stuff out, etc.
