Hmmm, I agree as far as Bambaataa's concerned but I'd say Mantronix has made
a great comeback. The early-'90s albums were *really* commercial and
tired-sounding, but Mantronik's recent solo album is excellent. I wasn't
expecting much, especially considering he remade "King of the Beats" for a
"Prodigy"-style audience, but it turned out very well -- halfway between the
old classic Mantronix sound and what's happening now in hip-hop as well as
electronic(a). If anyone in the commercial rap world gave Mantronik a
chance at producing Jay-Z or DMX, he'd blow up.
