Fair enough Eric - but there is a large gap between an artist saying that they'll possibly release something and having the information spread that the release is imminent. A lot of shit can happen between those two events and ultimately the best result is to stay quiet until it's pretty certain that the something (whether it's a hot new release, live gig or whatever) will actually happen. Or would you want to be disappointed?
