I haven't heard either of those two you mention. Being a CD buyer I am doomed to miss a good deal of stuff. I can give you a couple of comparisons though. The pacing of the tracks remind me most of Deep Space Network. Start with some ambient washes and build and modulate for a good couple of minutes. Slowly your subconscious begins to catch on to the edges of an implied rhythmic structure, hi hat, gating, until finally, boom, the kick comes in and your moving. The tracks tend to be long and slow building, just the way I like them. The 'sound' of it is different though. The drums have that IDM feel, a metalic, trebly, hissing, clean percussive sound. Sort of halting and robotic but always sitting right on the groove. Lots of distorted analog textures, white noise, chirps and blips which always seem to modulate right in sync... the sound reminds me somewhat of Model 500 but a slower, deeper kind of beat. - - dave m http://www.cs.oberlin.edu/~dmoxon
