Welllllllllllllllll you could get off your @##@ and do it yourself. This kind of bitching doesn't fly unless you've been out there in the trenches. The costs of bringing in a major tour like that often make it impossible to bring. If you were out there talking to the bands and the promoters making your case for this kind of music, then I could understand your being upset enough to post about it. Get out there and get the financial backing and do it yourself or talk to a promoter and give him your brilliant plan to bring AUTECHRE over from England to CO and have more than 50 people show up.(not saying that only 50 would show up) Don't rely on promoters to have taste, at least not your taste.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SNAP! you've really opened a can of worms with this one. I don't know what kind of DJ's you have in CO, but in order to get a crowd going, or keep them interested, you have to go way BEYOND just putting "a needle on a record" When a DJ really gets going its an art in itself, just check out JDJ by Coldcut that everyones been talking about and let them school you. Besides half of the IDM artists that you love have been DJ's or been influenced by DJ's or have parents that are DJ's(joke) Do you think for a second that these artists came up with these sounds completely out of SPACE, even though there is all the spaced out imagery eh? These artists were influenced by the mix it up style of DJ's from Brooklyn to Detroit to London to Berlin. From the 70's on up. DJ's are the ones that started dropping techno records or electro into their hiphop sets. The cut and scratch style of Rap DJ's inspired many of today's standard techno rhythms and jumpy sounds. Blah Blah Blah the history goes on, Not to mention Jamaican Sound systems and DUB( which is practically what IDM Is) Anyway I could go on but, my point is... Turn some of that anger into the energy to create something yourself . Don't let yourself be spoon fed by others. Kick the shitty DJ's out and rock out yerself and don't post another whine about your favorite band not coming to your town. MOVE if you have to.
