It's a PC CD-ROM called Williams Arcade Classics with six games: Defender, Stargate (renamed "Defender II" for copyright reasons), Joust, Robotron, Sinistar, and Bubbles. List price is probably $29.95; I picked it up for a few bucks less. Some of these games are also available on the Mac but I don't know which ones or how much they cost.

The best part is that the Williams Arcade Classics games aren't copies -- they're the original machine code from the arcade games running under a software emulation of the old Williams board set. They *are* the original games in every sense. Sinistar can even be played in full portrait mode if you're willing to turn your monitor on its side. The *bad* part is that I now have to find some way to get an authentic twin-joystick setup for Robotron -- a Gravis gamepad doesn't cut it. And yes, the sound design on these games, especially Robotron, is *excellent*. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo)
