I saw Jake Slazenger at Pure's 5th Birthday in Glasgow on Saturday and he
was superb. It was still just him, and his mouse, behind whatever
computer he was using, but at least 700 people must have been grooving
away. I got "Makesaracket" on Sunday, and was so pleased that the album
opened with Megaphonk - this sounded glorious in the Barrowlands. I can't
pick out what else he played, but I'm sure he slipped in a jungle track
which isn't on the album - or was he just messing with the beat? I don't
know. Speedy J also played "live", and Derrick May DJed - the best night
at Pure so far.
