Netscape recipe: Take a grad student from Shampoo-Urbana who's been staring at a workstation for too long, dangle buckets of money in front of him and there you have it. It's actually the definitive Neat Hack, on top of WWW, which was the previous definitive neat hack. ACTUAL Music Comments: DJ magazine ($5 at Barnes and Noble) has a Network Records compilation taped to the front. The first is a DJ mix by Dave Clark heavy on the old school Detroit techno tip that it pure bliss to my ears. No track listing, but I recognized a few UR cuts ... The disk "Parallel Universe" by 4Hero is right up there with "Black Secret Technology" as the most humane and listenable jungle I've found so far. By the way, Provo Utah, while a right bunghole of a town in most respects, has a wonderful record store downtown: A Different Drum (Todd Durrant tdurrant@itsnet.com) 434 W Center Street/Provo UT 84601 If you find yourself in Provo for some reason, stop in. He only has a few techno/ambient/disks but he did have the 4Hero for $15, a very respectable price for a Belgian import. His main emphasis is on REAL World Music (i.e. Brazilian, Argentinian, Chilean imports). He played me some Brazilian Sa-Shay (phonetic) that sounds very junglish and jazzy and hummable all at the same time. -- "This unit might get hot while operating, but there is nothing to worry about it." -- Chapter 1, Verse 10, the book of MKS30. -- kent.williams@cadsi.com [Kent Williams/CADSI/2651 Crosspark Rd/Coralville IA 52241/(319)626-6700]
