well... zoviet france is a band with so many releases I don't really know
anyone who's heard them all, but the four or five I've heard tended to
stay well within the bounds of quasi tribal lo-fi ambient (or some
permutation of those adjectives). If you like very quiet, slightly odd
mood music you'll probably enjoy their records, otherwise you might want
to think twice. I'd recommend Collusion as a starter because it's a
collection of compilation tracks and therefore much more varied than usual
(most albums seem to be very singleminded), and there should be something
you'll like about it.
Personally I'm a bigger fan of Rapoon, which is Robin Storey from z:f now
gone solo. Not a long stretch from the z:f material - murky, sort of
medieval (chantings, chain rattlings, etc) - but somehow a bit more
effective. "Just Say the Faith" (LP only, soleilmoon) is my favorite, but
Fires of the Borderlands (Release) is really good as well and widely
available.
