I don't think Ntone is setting out to be a 'techno' label. If anything the main theme is 'ambient dub' and some pretty fine stuff it is too. The compilation 'Tone Tales From Tomorrow' is a sampler for all the artists on the label through a mix by Coldcut (who set up both Ninja Tune/Ntone). Other full length releases so far on Ntone are: NTONE1 Hex - antiStatic NTONE2 Journeyman - Mama 6 NTONE3 Real Life - Journey Of The Carcharadon Of these Journeyman is my top rated. A classic ambient dub album (in the style of Woob - both feature Paul Frankland). Today I picked up a 12" (ntone6) by Drome 'The final corporate remix of the unconscious' which is some pretty good re-workings of their excellent Ninja Tune album. While I'm mentioning Woob the 12" on Beeswax is worth picking up if you liked the album. This is 4 mixes of 'Void, part 2' ('Void, part 1' was on emit 0094). There's a Journeyman mix and 2 more up-tempo trancey/acidey versions. A new Woob album in expected next year plus a track on the '2295' compilation. There is lots of info on both Ntone and Ninja Tune on the Pipe Webzine.
