It's always nice to see another person willing to try and scale the mountain
of releases that is King Crimson.
If you want late-60's, early-70's type prog rock, I'd recommend the
following :
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King (1969)
King Crimson - Lizard (1970)
King Crimson - Lark's Tongue in Aspic (1973)
King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black (1974)
If you enjoy the Talking Heads, you may want to check out the 80's
incarnation of KC, with Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew and Tony
Levin:
King Crimson - Discipline (1981)
King Crimson - Beat (1982)
King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair (1984)
Discipline is buy far the best of those three.
If you want to get into the 90's, when things went in an entirely different
direction there have only been two albums, but there's a third on the way:
King Crimson - Thrak (1995)
King Crimson - The Construction of Light (2000)
Thrak is more accessible, but CoL is very rewarding upon careful listening.
There are also close to 40 live releases from all eras of the band. Here's a
few links that might help...
Discipline Global Mobile - home of King Crimson and all things Robert Fripp
http://www.disciplineglobalmobile.com
Elephant Talk - sort of an "official" fan site, reviews, discographies,
Elephant Talk mailing list archives

hope this helps
