This is HEEYUGE in the high schools in Iowa City. Go figure. It is a sweet record in it's own way. This, along with "Expert Knob Twiddlers" and the Mike Flowers Pop remix record makes me think that the Next Big thing is going to be "Mike Curb Television Theme Songs: The remixes."

Ummm I can think of B12 Electrosoma Polygon Window Surfing on Sine Waves Black Dog Bytes Fuse Dimension Intrusion I think there's one or 2 more, but as far as I know 'Ginger' was a plus8 release. I'm not to sure about "Das ist.." but I can definately vouch for Makes a Racket. It's in my top 10 IDM albums (no joke!). It's basically the funkier side of u-ziq..very good! khannan suntharam kxs28972@bayou.uh.edu

_Makesaracket_ is quite a bit of fun with several really outstanding tracks and some filler. It's much ligher and more playful than Bluff Limbo, with a touch of electro/Herbie Hancock funk. It's worth a try if you really like his other stuff. DIEGBJ, on the other hand, seems comically uninspired. The sound is very thin and tinny, even for Mike, and he falls far over the boundaries of good taste with his limpid wonderbread pseudo-funk. I know a lot of people like this record, but I think it's easily his worst yet.

I think that this is one of my favorite CDs from the last three years. Definately among my ten faves. Same laid back but active direction as other Paradinas but much more funk directed with quirky, kitschy sound splotches and a Headhunter period Hancock influence. Like a 70s time capsule of jazz/funk opened and remixed by a zen monk in the year 2001 that is overheard by a corporate big-wig and apropriately used for television commercials advertising land-speeders with re-issued '71 Alpha Romeo body styles. I don't believe that there is a booklet. The front case just has the title of the album written directly onto it in white. I suppose this clear cover has something to do with it being on 'Clear records' - i.e. a clever marketing thing completely wasted on you :) Nick

Makesaracket doesn't have a front cover. Kinda lame, but true. Good record though, track 5 (if I remember) is my favorite; kind of a Doogie Howzer downtempo track. Very cheesy and lofty. Great stuff. peace Nate On Wed, 18 Nov 1998 Rgeary2@aol.com wrote:
