If it was recorded on hard disk or DAT then the waveform was once and for all digitized and would remain digitized (i.e. 16bit or 24bit or whatever, but not a smooth wave) also on the vinyl. Personally I don't think RDJ used a reel-to-reel recorder for the Analords, but I could be wrong...
