I recently acquired "The Fire This Time" - a 2xCD audio project about the gulf
war and the history of the "Iraq situation"... It's pretty good. The first CD
consists of various tracks with narration, and the second CD has the music on
its own without the narration.

The narration is quite informative, though I wish there was, like, a
bibliography of sources included or something... The music is good, too. It
has a Bola track, "Dog In America", which is exclusive to this release (AFAIK),
and remixes *of* Aphex Twin and Orbital. There is also other music by other
people which is good too :P ...I'm assuming the Twin and Orbital gave
permission for their stuff to be remixed for this project, so that's kinda like
they support it, maybe.
Anyway, it was good, and I'd recommend it. The only other "political IDM" that
pops to mind is Mr. Lif, though he's not exactly IDM - apparently it's nice
topical hip-hop. And Muslimgauze, who has passed on, but his work was always
consciously reflective of the Middle East and Islam in general, from what I
understand. I'm not a big listener of either of these artists, but they're
probably worth looking into.
