The more I read this list, the more it becomes evident.. There exists an entire generation of listeners in america who's exposure to techno is almost exclusively through college radio promo, Tower, and sometimes, if they're lucky a small shop.. Labels like astralwerks and caroline wouldn't be existance if it wasn't for college radio.. They know they can always wow some poor bloke with promos, because he/she has never heard any comprable alternatives.. Picking up the stack of promos for the week at WVKR a couple of days ago, I couldn't believe how intensely mediocre EVERYTHING was.. No wonder european idolize detroit and chicago so exclusively, the rest of the country must come off as a musical wasteland, releasing CDs like "Death Rave 2010" and "L.A. Hardcore".. gag... I think it may be our responsibility to respond to these labels, and complain about the inferior product they subjegate the country's college radio station with.. BTW, the one thing I dug was the STC remixes of pressure.. not bad on the B-side.. Jamie Hodge

Speaking of College Radio... For those who do shows, what are some of your distributers? We have Triage, Net, some place in LA, and some place in NY. (Not sure, have to ask my music director) Later, Larry

I do a show on WZBC 90.3 in Boston on Saturdays. Basically, I rely on the shoppes in town who get the material from places like Watts. If you wait around for Triage or Net to provide the material to you, you probably get it months later ; ). sasha

Jamie, why do you CARE? The airwaves are littered with trash, but I don't feel it is my duty to go out and convert everyone to the "proper" way. Besides, who has time to evangelize "good" over "bad" techno? Especially when we're fighting poor English skills on the Internet?

Possibly of a more important nature: Good is a matter of perspective-based-biased opinion. Saying something is GOOD or BAD conveys little to another human beyond the listener's evaluation. As a general thing, it means nothing. =B)
