In the latest issue of Select, there's an ad for the new Global Communications album that mentions "limited edition" LP, CD, and MC. Anybody know what's different with the limited edition? -- Mark Turner mturner@netcom.com

That they are fewer of them....? ;-) A lot of albums these days are released on CD, MC and limited edition LP. It doesn't necessarily mean that the LP is any different from the CD and cassette (though of course it may be) -- just that they don't intend to keep it available, because the demand for vinyl is lower than that for CD and cassette.... cosmic

I saw the CD today, and it is in a very smart cardboard gatefold package held together with a couple of blobs of velcro - the band's name (I assume) is in Morse code on the spine and nowhere else on the outside. 4AD occasionally release albums in this sort of luxury package for a limited period (Kristin Hersh and Belly are two which spring to mind) - it could well be that this packaging is the limited edition, with a standard jewel case to follow. -- Andrew Norman, Leicester, England | Jedermann sein eigner Fussball nja@le.ac.uk |
