Not too much of a puzzle.
Apparently your CD player shows on track numbers, not tracks and
indices. The CD player at the store shows index numbers, and while
the track number is "1" and the time is the length of the whole disc,
the index starts at "0" (time -0:02 to 0:00) then progresses to "1"
and then on up into higher numbers.
Actually, many idm artists use the index numbers for useful purposes.
For example, on many Front242 recordings, if you can jump to index 2
on a track, you skip over the intro. Other times, the index numbers
appear to be completely random. And sometimes the entire track is
at index 1 (except that the blank space before a track is always
index 0). A few bands have recently hidden secret songs in track 1,
index 0--for example the song runs from -3:21 to -0:03--so you have
to insert the disk and rewind to hear them.
