It's nice to be through with massive special radio features for a while
- back to the usual skulduggery. Last week's Wild Kingdom was cobbled
together with bits and pieces gathered for special features on Parallel
Recordings and Delsin Records. The playlist can be found at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=32883 . This week's show is
focused on Carlos Abraham Duque Alcivar - his tracks, his labels, his
homies, life in that nexus of coolness, Hollis, Queens, NYC.........
Harummph - I've been reading a few too many of those silly little comic
books that were slipped into the old Disko B albums. Anyway, while
seeking out choice bits on Parallel Recordings and Delsin, I also loaded
up on other things, among them classic old12"s from Tension, Hollis
Haus, Rancho Relaxo, Disko B, Abe Duque Records, etc, as I've found
Abe's and his homie's output well worth following. Tune in tomorrow
night for the results of my foraging. In case you're going huh?, check
discogs.com for mention of Abe Duque, _then _tune in tomorrow night.
In the near future, KFJC will be hosting limited-time archives for all
programming. Check in periodically at www.kfjc.org for developments - I
can't promise when, just soon...It'll be a discreet roll-out, so don't
expect a lot of fireworks and fanfare.
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (8A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at
http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.
If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at promo@kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.
Regards,
Richard Hester
