Hi list, I'm currently setting up digital distribution for the two labels I run, Awkward Silence and Unlabel Records, and am thinking that with the type of stuff I release, it's going to be better to work direct with smaller specialist sites rather than the big places. So, I'm wondering where do IDM listers mainly go to buy music they pay to download? Feel free to reply off list as it's not the most exciting topic! i think its a pretty decent topic, quite interested to know too. i have a monthly emusic subscription so always get a couple of albums from there every month. I tend to use Boomkat for most of my digital purchases though, as the shopping process is nice and simple and the site works well. I've been on Beatport quite a few times, but i hate the interface to it, so rarely go back. check out tradebit. they recently changed their payout policy so it's not as nice as it used to be, but you can sell files, and links get automatically generated. i've had plenty of success with this with my releases at 100dbs.com, but your mileage may vary. you may want a more recognizable gateway that people are going to anyway if your site doesn't get a lot of traffic. however, i find that this gives me the most control and the most money (or at least, used to)...
