The first release on Oblivion Fringe, the "Deadworld" EP, by Alert,
delves into the dark subconscious of the human psyche with fearless
abandon, as interpreted through the sonic medium of Drum and Bass.
"Dead To The World" introduces us to the intense realm of the world
beyond this life with breakneck precision; otherworldly glimpses
serving as sonic guides toward the unknown.
The second track, "Necronomicon", embraces the listener with its
creeping mystery. Staccato beats and snaking rhythms coil around and
take hold, ushering us into the underworld of life and death.
"Inhuman Condition", the third track, shows the audience just what it
is to experience a world beyond our day to day understanding, complete
with the siren song of futures come and gone.
Once inside the Deadworld, we learn that this new, strange world is not
one to be feared or avoided, as the message inherent in "Eye Of Horus"
is one of acceptance: there are other realities to be lived and
explored. This rollercoaster journey has been broken down into a
spiritual ride through the universe in which every twist an turn offers
some clue towards solving the greater cosmic puzzle.
Our fifth track, "Unsane", ties all of this together in its seductive
web. By this point in the excursion, we have discovered countless
dimensions in the planes of existence; all equally intriguing and
enticing.
We end our exploration with the stuttering darkness of "Hellion". We
have thus become members of this parallel world of the unknown
boundaries of the double edged sword of life and death... and come back
to tell the tale.
