He'll probably play a bit of everything - from Analord-y stuff all the way through to gabber. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

well, i've never seen him, but i've heard two live shows, and i assume that hearing is the whole deal since i've never heard of any aphex live visuals (could be wrong). sonar 2001 bored and annoyed me (a lot of drum'n'bass and "hits"), while glastonbury 1997 sounds incredible and mostly new/unrecognizable. so it seems hit or miss. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I saw him about 8 years ago at Glasgow QMU, he spent the whole show lying on a mattress on the stage with his laptop. The only visuals he had then were two guys dressed in the bear outfits Jumping around erratically to the music. They only ever lasted half a song each time as it must have been un-bear-able hot in those outfits. New father responsibilities will dictate whether I am able to make it This time as I've committed to see the Silver Jews that weekend. Although I'd love to see what he cam do in the Barrowlands. Have seen him dj twice - Rephlex Allstars tour here in Cork and the Autechre curated all tomms parties, both some years back, in the early 21st century. I remember the Allstars gig as a rip roaring laptop acid/gabba/hardcore/idm mash-up with the occasional Aphex hit. Everybody there was doing their very bestest freaky dance moves, many of them muchos caned on heinious chemicals, which is kinda typical of Cork folk, what with it being a school night (we only really start hitting the booze "seriously" at the weekends). All Tomms Parties was a different affair entirely. I've only the very faintest recollection of some breakcore-idm stuff at the beginning of the set and some really ham fisted attempt to dance to it, before coming to, at the back of the venue, the show over, the houselights on, stretched out horizontally on the damp carpeted floor, wondering why the Aphex Twin was only allowed a 10 minute dj set ! It was a Saturday night, so I reckon it was probably the booze that did it. There's a moral in there somewhere, I reckon. |---------+----------------------------> | | DJSTiK420@aol.com| | | | | | 02/03/2006 05:25 | | | | |---------+----------------------------> >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: orr.philip@gmail.com, idm@hyperreal.org | | cc: | | Subject: Re: [idm] Aphex Twin, Glasgow, April 30th | >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| saw him in LA for the all tomorrows party. he came out with his laptop and a big fat pioneer mixer and was mixing mp3's sitting indian style on the ground in front of a big blue screen. saw squarepusher standing in the audience... + richard played a bunch of tom's tunes. go figure.
