After relocating to Berlin in January '04 to focus more on DJ/production, things quickly began to change. He began contributing as one third of the Minus "supergroup" RunStopRestore with label mates Magda and Marc Houle, and within months his first live solo performance as Slacknoise took place at the Magnet Club in Berlin. Other notable live performaces followed in Montreal (MUTEK with Magda, Jeff Samuel, Mathew Herbert) and New York (Minimize to Maximize with Magda, Mathew Jonson and Richie Hawtin). In addtion to producing and performing live, Troy is quickly establishing himself as a much sought after DJ, often playing alongside labelmates Richie Hawtin, Mathew Dear, Mathew Jonson, Magda, and others like Zip, Sammy Dee, and Ricardo Villalobos, DJing in Detroit, New York, London (Egg, The End), Zurich, Vienna, and of course Berlin. As one of the first users of Final Scratch, Troy has always looked outside of the norm to embrace and integrate technology into his sets. Through the combined use of decks, efxs, Final Scratch, and Ableton Live, he is able to achieve a set up that blurs the lines between a live performance and a traditional dj set. We are huge fans of Troy's innovative sound and are extemely excited to bring him to San Francisco for the first time ever!
