Hello! Ouch, winter months are definitely here. Its an odd combination - theres many more great shows on in winter, than there are in summer, but you definitely feel the hibernation urge growing inside, and it gets more tempting to stay home and listen to music or work on you own... So, in case you're undecided, we thought we'd give you plenty options for both choices! ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||| Releases |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| For the staying home kind of mood, we have prepared many new discs of fine quality music for your discerned listening enjoyment.. Bovaflux - 'Where There Was Nothing' ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Should now be filtered into all good indie stores, and still picking up some ace reviews.. "fragile bleep-spattering requiems that sound like pickled onions and daydreams and wind-chimes." Plan B Magazine "This is a special album, consistently beautiful from beginning to end." gridface.com "the best little pure electronic release of a certain sort that has come down the pipe in a while" almostcool.org The Village Orchestra - 'Et In Arcadia Ego' +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This release is gathering some great momentum, and is due for release last week of November. Its available to buy directly from Smallfish and Norman records already.. "While a certain Scottish duo has been stealing the headlines in the electronica sections of all the most knowledgeable publications, fellow Scot Ruaridh Law, in his Village Orchestra guise, has released one of the albums of the year." Undercover Magazine. "It's merely one stunning moment of many on this ravishing collection of symphonic splendour. Sonic sculpting of the first rank." Textura.org "To be able to convey a sense of organic wonder using cold lifeless technology is something that cannot be overlooked as a fluke for The Village Orchestra, because on Et In Arcadia Ego, Law does it again and again." somewherecold.com Fuck-off Machete - 'If Gold Was Silver, And Silver Was Gold' +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This single will be out at the end of this month as well, and is a very different raw noise-pop sound, one that we think you'll find quite refreshing tho! "The guitars are jagged, the bass is liquid and the drums are broken. My kind of record." Diskant.net "Needless to say, noise-pop as fierce and infectious as this bodes well for the scheduled full-length set to drop in early 2006." Textura.org London Electrics - LE01 +++++++++++++++++++++++ The fruits of our collaboration with AI, Expanding, Seed, Uncharted Audio, and SRL has now hit the stores, released this past monday, and featuring tracks from Bovaflux, Blamstrain, Posthuman, Digitonal, Benge and many more.. Its been featured on Radio One's The Blue Room, XFM's Flo Motion, and getting some great acclaim. For more info, check out http://londonelectrics.co.uk/ randomNumber - 'Golden Acre Sleeps' ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Oh, i was hoping this would be back sooner, but it's still going to be a few weeks, however we're still well on schedule. This one is being pressed Stateside, so it'll take a bit longer to get over. The pressing plant have said its scheduled to be done by the 14th, so.. we should have it on sale via posteverything et al by December, with an official release date in early 2006.. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||| Shows ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| And for those people who are looking for their musical experience a bit more live, we have a whole bunch of good shows coming up this month.. First one coming up is this friday in London... randomNumber will be playing at the last ever Rehabilitation at the Foundry, due to the new licensing laws which are drastically affecting this most excellent and open minded venue. Come along and show your support for both The Foundry, and these ever popular and long-running Rehab nights.. (and if you are still hungry to go out further on friday, i would highly recommend the Little Big, Adaadat, Wrong Music night.. http://www.littlebig.org.uk/) Following that, randomNumber will be on the road this month, with two bands, Hands & Fingers, and Quip, doing a mini UK tour.. Nov 8th / London, Multivitamins, Corsica Studios, Elephant & Castle Nov 9th / Nottingham, venue tbc Nov 10th / Newcastle, Stout Fiddler Nov 11th / Aberdeen, venue tbc Nov 12th / Glasgow STFU, The Universal Nov 13th / Leeds, Cardigan Arms November 12th sees an amazing looking festival up in Liverpool, which i really wish i could go along to! Check this lineup: Colleen, Dub Tractor, Marcia Blaine School For Girls, Donato Wharton, Pole, Kode 9 and more.. For more details check: http://www.thehivecollective.co.uk/ Nov 17th sees randomNumber join another great lineup in London.. 65daysofstatic, Dwayne Sodahberk, randomNumber, John Chantler Thats at Purple Turtle, 61-65 Crowndale Road. Tix now on sale at www.ticketweb.co.uk. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||| Other bits.. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| The mighty Textura.org, an incredibly well written, and informed webzine, has included Highpoint Lowlife as one of their topten labels of 2005, alongside such luminary labels as City Centre Offices, AI records, Kranky, Merck, Ghostly International, Type, Orac, Background, and Microcosm. Needless to say, we're exceptionally proud to be included in such good company! Check out the article over at: http://www.textura.org/ Not directly tied to Highpoint Lowlife, but i've started a music blog over at http://sideb0ard.blogspot.com As usual, i'm sure i've forgotten loads of interesting stuff i meant to say, but as the mail is getting a tad long, I'll leave it at that.. thanks!
