Hey Folks, We just discovered this site today http://jetgroove.com/ It contains music from Merck which we did not license them to sell nor are we receiving any payment from them for sales. We're wondering if any other labels they carry (they go heavy on electronic music) are also being sold by them w/o any notification or payment. It includes music from Warp, Botanica Del Jibaro, Mille Plateux, Hefty, and other others. Any information on if this service has contacted people about licensing their music for sale would be appreciated. The contacts provided on the site do not work. Also we have no problem w/ people sharing our music, but we do have a problem with people profiting from our music w/o compensating the label or the artists. Kind Regards, Andrew Jones press@m3rck.net 407-927-7607 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yes, we tried that yesterday, same story. you pay $20 but then you can't download anything, cuz its all unavailable yet! perhaps their idea is to collect $20 from everyone and then to run away. i received the info about that site from SolarX, who discovered his albums there, but of course he didnt know anything about the site. i then found a lot of other releases, and checked with all my friends, including Pietro De Sacco - no one was ever contacted by this jetgroove regarding mp3 sales. from the beginning i had a feeling that this is something to do with russians (unfortunately) , as the website is very similar in look to many illegal mp3 sites in Russia, + i've found the admin name which is Russian , and their address is a russian law firm in London! of course its possible that they used that address only for registration. but also i've found the name of the actual owner, also Russian! if they think that opening the same ILLEGAL site in the UK will work just the same as in Russia, they're wrong. --- andrew jones <liminal18@mac.com> wrote:

you're right, the site looks nice and expensive, but then - if they collect enough $20 accounts, it was probably worth it. also, if the website was developed in Russia, then its much cheaper than UK. some more information here: http://noiseloop.com/article.php/20041008171656597 also news article on de-big: http://www.de-bug.de/news/2840.html --- j izam <izimizam@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:

check this out, they've put some news and they're presenting it like they did us all a huge favour by promoting all labels and artists. WTF!!! --- During first three days JetGroove received an enormous amount of attention from users, record labels, artists, authors and publishers. And this attention brought some contradictions to the light of music community. The music community was disappointed at some parts of our website and made some wrong assumptions. We wanted to clear up all misunderstandings that arose so we want to explain our position how our website is organized and business is led. JetGroove is the unique project that we created to give the worldwide exposure to independent record labels and artists, producing alternative music. The way our website organized is: First part of the website - music, that is represented by record labels who already signed contracts with JetGroove. These tracks are available to be purchased and downloaded. Second part of the website - information about music that is placed on the website for promotion of independent record labels and artists. These "tracks" could not be purchased or downloaded. However they could be put ON HOLD. As soon as this happens, record label or artist to whom this track belongs is contacted with the offer of doing business with JetGroove. This greatly increases the exposure for many of the record labels. The line that JetGroove is going to continue to follow is: LEGAL SALES ONLY. The project was created to give independents a good chance of being known in the world, and earning money, not to make them suffer again as they do from p2p systems. And the least thing JetGroove planned to do is to violate rights of record labels, publishers, artists or authors. JetGroove officially states that if you are not interested to have your tracks on www.jetgroove.com, you should contact JetGroove immediately and all the information we have about your tracks will be taken off the website ASAP. ___________________________________________________________ALL-NEW Yahoo! exactly. also, as far as i understand they did contact SOME labels, and those labels who didn't reply, they've listed as well! they've also listed unreleased and UNFINISHED (!!!) material from some artists, like Praveen from Neo Ouija for example. at the same time they steel $20 from each user who wants to download there something, pays the money, but can't download anything in fact! my friend tried that, and now he's asking them to return his money. guess what - they don't reply his emails!
