No diss on any of the involved parties, but I feel like mis/appropriating pop music kind of changes the context. No one creates art in a vacuum and no one can avoid the kind of assumptions and associations that people tend to have with the mash-up. -Aaron

I think Andrew was saying that the methodology was never very good even when it was in, not just that it's not in at the moment. The wronged parties in the whole affair seem to be Kelis and the Neptunes: imo, at least, Milkshake is a pretty /good/ pop track. David

It's that part after the dash that saves the sentence from being about fashion to the merits of that class of tunes themselves.
