Ignorance offends me. Hyperbole amuses me. If Bush is the "biggest war criminal of the 21st century," we should all be thankful to live in such a peaceful world. Unfortunately, I spend a great deal of time absorbing the news of the world, and unfortunately, we have nothing to be thankful for at the moment. Derrick ought to educate himself as to the true nature of the current world before speaking, should he desire to be taken seriously. And by the way, the 21st century is less than 4 years old. Good thing he didn't say "of the last 100 years." For those of you who run in intellectual circles, don't laugh. I've heard, here in Los Angeles, similar statements. I hope to God that Bush isn't re-elected, I really do. But there is enough bad to say about the man without resorting to exaggeration, or resorting to insulting the loss felt by the families of the victims of Nazi Germany, Rwanda, Bosnia, Iraq, N. Korea, Iran, etc etc. Point out why you think he is a piece of shit, in an honest and truthful way, and people will listen. Exaggerate and lie, and people will tune you out. People are tuning out. Stop it, for the sake of the country, and the world. I agree. Although I would think it within reason to say that the American government is the biggest war criminal of the last 50 years, considering what it has done and allowed to be done over and over to serve its interests. But yes, I think it's pretty wrong to say that Bush (W) is the biggest war criminal of any time period, let alone a whole century that has barely started. -Adam P. Glowdot Dot Com wrote:

I will say this: look at your histrionic reaction (bored at work or not, that's what this is) and ask yourself... is this mindset a proper one for evaluating world events? This is knee-jerk.
quoted 4 lines Technically speaking, he isn't, but does that mean>Technically speaking, he isn't, but does that mean >someone like John Gotti ought to be exempt from >criticism because he himself didn't chainsaw the >victim but rather ordered it done?
Did I say that? Or did I say don't blow his crimes way out of proportion? My point was, call him on his offenses, without making them more than they are. They are ENOUGH as is, but when you blow them up, you make yourself and your position look foolish.
quoted 6 lines Do my points negate the tragedy in Iraq, Sudan,>Do my points negate the tragedy in Iraq, Sudan, >Bosnia, which you mentioned? Of course not, but to >claim, as you do below, that these "over-reactions" >are an insult to the families of victims of the >official tragedies is an insult to morality as a >whole.
What? Are you serious? I said that calling Bush a war criminal, nay, the "biggest war criminal of all time" or fuckit, call him Satan, I don't care, is to downplay the crimes and evil of some men who truly deserve the title. Just fucking keep things in perspective, jesus christ.
quoted 6 lines If Mr. Derrick used an improper qualifier 'biggest',>If Mr. Derrick used an improper qualifier 'biggest', >dare I say that this is an intellectual slip far less >important than someone claiming the threats that the >United States pose, as perceived by the rest of the >world, are nothing more than an exaggeration and a >lie?
I can't believe I'm even going to qualify that. Go back and read what I wrote. This is what I'm talking about, you got so hysterical you didn't even read what I wrote! I said evil is evil, don't exaggerate it, don't make it more than it is. Bush is OFFENSIVE ENOUGH for WHAT HE HAS DONE and YOU DO NOT NEED TO MAKE IT MORE THAN WHAT IT IS if you want to defeat him. Got it? Fuck it, I'm done, everyone can go ahead and wallow in their ignorance. How did I get into this again? :|
quoted 3 lines maybe they hate us for standing by>maybe they hate us for standing by >throughout so many war crimes in Iraq (indeed, even >aiding Iraq through the peak of them),
One last point: If you think terrorism is a response to our government's offenses against the rest of the world, ask yourself why civilians were targeted on Sept. 11. Out. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's interesting that most of the world saw Bush as a much bigger threat than Saddam. < If Bush is the "biggest war criminal of the 21st century," we should all be thankful to live in such a peaceful world. > Don't worry Bush has lots of plans to make it a less peaceful world. Don't forget the PNAC was written long ago and there are tons of new WMDs being made for the US military. If all goes well, they be plenty of space based weapons soon. If he gets elected (this time) he can start more wars and maybe all these new toys. Like most sequels you need bigger and better effects "Shock And Awe II" should be some light show. < Derrick ought to educate himself as to the true nature of the current world before speaking, should he desire to be taken seriously. > He could certainly rephrase what he said a little better, but I don't think he is that off. I mean we already have two wars and if all goes well they'll be a few more, most likely Syria and Iran. If you pay attention to Bush's boy John Bolton, he seems like he has his eye on many more countries to start a war with. http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/07/16/bolton/index_np.html Just because some of the neocons haven't started the other wars yet, don't think they don't have the intentions. < I hope to God that Bush isn't re-elected, I really do. But there is enough bad to say about the man without resorting to exaggeration > Like lost 3 million jobs and $521 billion deficit? Or continually lying and deceiving about everything. Or conducting a foreign policy that has made our country weaker militarily by overextending our forces, over straining our reserves, and driving away our allies. That kind of stuff? That might not be enough to wake people up. What about the 15,000+ innocent civilians in iraq? There's hardly any concern or sympathy from what I've seen. What about 20,000 wounded soldiers (many of them seriously fucked up for life)...on a war based on lies. The media won't cover that, and we've yet to see any on TV, so it's like they don't even exist to the general public. Who knows maybe the Administration will use more scare tactics and orange alerts to try and convince the people that we need Bush. They need to do something otherwise the rich won't their next big tax cut. < Point out why you think he is a piece of shit, in an honest and truthful way, and people will listen. > It too bad the media has largely kept honest people from expressing the truth. Oh, I forgot there were some, but they were labelled anti-american. < Exaggerate and lie, and people will tune you out. > No, I think that has been a successful strategy for many in the corporate news world. Fox news has done an impressive job exaggerate and lying. < People are tuning out. Stop it, for the sake of the country, and the world. > The majority of the people were never tuned in the first place, that's how the Bush Administration has been able to do what they have. So well probably see more cycles where we arm brutal dictators to do our bidding and then when they get out of line claim them to be the new hitler and then blow them away and then off to more arms sales so we can do the whole thing over and over again. --- --- --- --- --- --- This is a good read Bush Family Values: War, Wealth, Oil http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0208-05.htm __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
