Underground graffiti artists and turntablists, indie-rock snobs to intrepid self-made grassroots reporters, artists and comedians to animal-rights activists, old-guard Silverlakers and garment- worker advocates, punk rockers and roc en espa?olers, former pirate deejays to burlesque dancers, earnest vegan anarchists to steak- gnawing pranksters, electronic musicians to conspiracy enthusiasts?the killradio collective has been bringing LA the weirdest, wildest, and most cutting-edge in entertainment and reportage since it first spontaneously coalesced in October of 2000 in the wake of the political and civil unrest at the Democratic NationalConvention. Plenty of Internet radio stations have gone the way of the dodo over the past three years as killradio only gathers momentum. More than just ?decidedly noncommercial, totally uncensored renegades<sum>LA?s most unruly radio station,? [Deborah Vankin, LA Weekly, 2001], killradio is a sweeping force in underground LA and beyond. Fueled by the DIY ethic, a strong activist mission, and cigarettes and beer, the collective now serves as a model for fledgling stations worldwide. Members have traveled to Chiapas, Guatemala, France, Seattle, Cancun, Washington DC, and Colombia to report on globalization as well as to aid in the construction of local activist networks. In partnership with The Fold, the anniversary blowout is free (21 and over) and features Sabertoothtiger, Snake vs. Wizard, The Shakes, Mash Up Soundsystem and Gigsville?s Unsafe Burlesque Team. More special guests are to be announced. Killradio deejays will be spinning all night long, with giveaways and coveted DIY killradio swag. So come on out and party against the machine!
