* blackout audio -- mark eg's label. hard and dark. * pounding grooves is very good swedish-style stompy techno. i could be wrong, but i heard he (lawrence dunster) was doing psy-trance beforehand. weird. excellent production nonetheless. * speedy j's output over the last year has been amazing as well. kreck and bugmod were absolutely wicked. the remix of chris liebing's analogon kicked my ass, with a massive, massive breakdown, more recently, his remix of adam beyer's ignition key is really, really fucking good. just builds and builds and never drops the kick drum, but manages to be more manic than 99% of techno out there. funny that grooves was dissing all over loudboxer -- the reviewer obviously didn't get it. headphone music it aint -- it takes on a whole different meaning on a big freaking sound system. * cristian vogel's dungeon master double-twelve would appeal to a lot of people on this list. really twisted stuff. it may have a limited audience, but i think some of the most innovative stuff in electronic music is being filed in the techno bins right now. cheers w --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i'd also like to know where i might be able to specifically find more like adam beyer and umek. i tend to view them as the same sort of tech that i heard way back when i went to my first party in chicago in 97 in a church gymnasium and saw this middle school kid spin really high-treble bang-tech that completely owned in a side room. i therefore have a great deal of appreciation for this thread. i honestly don't think i know very much about this kind of tech, but i'm definitely into it, so please talk more about it. others in particular that seem to be pretty much in the same vein for me: strobe hardcell glen wilson johan bacto some christian morgenstern (the more-bangy, less-deep material, though i enjoy all morgenstern) most anything on zync maybe some stewart walker or adam jay to take things down a notch, but it's got the same ideas involved. :justin http://ecesis.org/ | http://posthoc.org/

I love techno as well, but I own so much minimal techno I don't really feel the need to buy that much of the new stuff unless it is really exceptional. Surgeon is always great, I'll usually pick any of his releases on sight. One artist that I am really like is Diego Hostettler, who usually just releases material as Diego or for idm material Shapes & Forms. Cristian Vogel & Paul Mac usually put out some pretty good releases. Oh yeah, Central Records is awesome!!!

Diego's stuff is great. 'Mouth Full Of Fresh Cut Flowers' is highly recommended, on Kanzleramt. Shapes and Forms (s/t) is also excellent, on K2 O. Not as fond of the new Diego, 'Instant Reality', tho it's good, too. seek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i finally had the opportunity to finally see speedy j live at an afterparty at the detroit music fest this year. granted what he was doing wasn't mindblowingly new, but devastatingly effective on the dance floor. most of his set probably consisted of really long buildups with only short amounts of release provided by massive kickdrums that pummel you senseless. i can see how loudboxer is boring for home listening, but played loud as hell in a dark room of full people going completely nuts, it's a totally different experience. he also has a recent release on novamute called tanga - if you liked bugmod or krekc it'll likely be right up your alley. for other harder techno recommendations - there's mark broom, who's always rocked it, and up-and comer christian wunsch who kicks on on just about anything he releases. shufflemaster always keeps the shit interesting too.

have you, uhh, given the enumerable playlists sent to the list a listen? Most of them are available via the 'web... You have a comcast address so I'd imagine you're on broadband. Digital Nimbus, Shimone's show, advanced d&d, so many radio shows! Also, plenty of labels offer mp3 snippets of albums or new artists. Regarding actually buying the stuff, there's ForcedExposure for non-new stuff, as well as Skimo and PBE for bleeding-edge releases via email lists. -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ----- it's in your grocer's freezer --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
