Quick report for all the peeps who didn't get to go. Highlights : Aphex Twin DJ set. Did he rinse it? Damn right! Blinding set and great flow. The kids loved it too. Felt a bit sorry for the people in the SKAM room, as no bastard was in there. (bit of ragga vocals in the middle of the set too) RDJ looked like he was having a good time. Public Enemy were awesome - Kinda shocked at all the guitar stuff, but AC/DC and Led Zep covers were sweet. Played for longer than advertised too. DJ Lord (from PE) spinning D+B in the pub. Excellent selection if you are into the D+B ting. Surprised my mate than an american hip hop DJ played stuff like that. He seemed to be enjoying himself too. SKAM room was generally excellent. Meam were wicked (if you don't have the CD / DVD, go buy), Wevie Stonder (the bit I saw of them) were fantastic. I think "bee man" is the greatest person ever (guy in shirt and tie, middle aged spread with bee wings and antenna "giving it large" on stage - like the bee guy out of the Simpsons) - Team Doyobi, Mortal and Chemist, Dr Derek F. Russell Haswell was good, but nothing like I expected. Started off all kinda rave-tastic, then 5 minutes in howling noise, then back to "shake your ass" stuff. Not as noisey as I expected at all. Kool Keith and co. rocked the spot. MURS and El-P also did a good set - Bit too much "jump jump" action, but hey, I'm not going to complain too much. Pissed off about not seeing Coil / Jim O'Rourke / Snares, but I had to bounce. Was too tired to watch Gescom. I'm sure it was ace, as the Skam DJ's were universally excellent. I really have to agree with you there. Wevie Stonder were the highlight of the entire event for me. Zoviet France were ultra good also.

i think coil was supposed to come to the states about a year back, but it never happened. something to do with john balance being an asshole or something if what i heard was correct. they're one of those bands i have to see before i die. :justin http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Coil played in New York City in the summer of 2001. That was the only Coil show in North America until now that had any concrete plans associated with it. Other shows and tours have been rumoured in the interim, but they were no more than rumours. They are, however, confirmed to play at MUTEK in Montreal at the end of May.

What you heard was incorrect. Coil have NEVER cancelled any officially announced North American dates due to Balance "being an asshole" or for any other reasons. They HAVE cancelled/postponed dates in Europe, but they were due to John Balance having health problems related to a heart condition and his ongoing bouts with alcoholism.
