I went to the chicago show, but had a differant reaction to the lack of "visuals." I too am curious to see whats going on in front of the musicians, but with video or live feed, I am tempted to stand there and gawk rather than dance like a madman. A lot of people kinda stood around dumbfounded anyway (well at least for prefuse and plaid); I can only imagine how many more woulda just stared had there been much to look at. When I saw Ae at DEMF a couple of summers ago, i think they made it a point to have the promoters shut off the video et al. I think that the artists' intention was to communicate on a non-visual level, perhaps? Anyway, I thought the show was great, well worth the 3-1/2 hour drive to get there and the $15 door price. -geoff
ps someone else recently asked what kinda tunes they was jamming. Plaid plaid stuff that I didn't recognize a lot of. Some of the melodies maybe were from earlier work. Prefuse played one old song that my friend picked up on, and a lot of newer, more r&b sounding stuff. And a.wetherall played wicked electro for a few hours.
