I own Alarm… Plays Aphex Twin and had been to their live concert (no dancing though). Acoustic instruments add a very interesting feel to the whole thing. The most pronounced effect for me though, I guess, was “The symphonic Jean Michel Jarre” (not by Alarm…) – orchestral arrangement added a lot of depth to sound.
Thanks.

yeah i have met several people who are not at all fans of techno/electronic music/aphex twin but yet loved the aphex twin covers by alarm will sound
to me its just not interesting to hear normal/regular/boring old instruments that have been in use for hundreds of years *shrug* except like as an experiment sort of, to hear "what if ..."

Curious thing,
listening to Alarm Will Sound .. i find humans to be quite less accurate with timing than machines.
Even it sounds more organic, does anybody else get that feeleng of need for more precision? :)

Quite a surprise, never thought that electronic music would be passed on to sheet, this was a first for me.

alarm will sound performs selection of acoustic covers of IDM tracks while dance troupe dances IDMishly
(i personally am not a huge fan of covering electronic tracks with 'real' instruments, but maybe you are?)
either way the dancing at around 11:30 or so is insane
